We have a special interest in helping nervous patients overcome their dental anxiety and fear for the dentist. We understand how going to the dentist can be a frightening affair and here, at Garvey’s Tower Dental, we are able to help people manage their dental anxiety.
Over the many years that we have been practising dentistry, we have seen every form of nervous patient walk through the door. The reasons for this can be many, but ignoring it nearly always results in a vicious cycle of fear and avoidance which can lead to more serious dental problems and a lifetime of discomfort.
Everyone’s personal situation is different, and we deal with each patient on an individual basis. Some may simply need time, others may need only information. Fear comes from the unknown, after all. We do our best to slowly demonstrate, as clearly as possible, all the steps involved in each patient’s dental care and feel confident that we can assist all patients to overcome these fears.
Modern dentistry techniques and procedures can assist many patients overcome their fears and nerves – most, if not all, procedures are now relatively painless, and we also use topical gels to numb the gums before injecting anaesthetic. Our compassionate, kind and gentle staff are trained in handling nervous patients sympathetically throughout their visit. Our modern instruments and equipment are now better engineered than ever before, allowing previously difficult and tricky treatments to be performed with predictable ease.
For these reasons, some of our best and most dedicated patients over the years have been those people who entered our clinic being the most nervous.
Whatever the reason for your nerves or fear, come in and have a chat with us. We have a private consultation room which is separate to the surgeries, where we can discuss your dental needs and fears.
